Check before you travel

Four points decide the quota

  1. Amount In 2026 up to 15 kg of fish or fish products per person, at most twice per calendar year. From 1 January 2027 it is 10 kg. Trophy fish count towards it.
  2. Camp The quota only applies if you fished through a fishing camp registered with the Directorate of Fisheries. Ask before you book.
  3. Reporting The catch is reported daily, only then does the camp issue the export document.
  4. Age The quota applies to visitors without permanent residence in Norway aged 12 or over.

What is outside the quota

Three exceptions according to Norwegian Customs

  1. Freshwater fish Salmon, trout, char and other freshwater fish you catch yourself are not covered by the rule.
  2. Bought fish Fish from a registered Norwegian business goes with proof of purchase.
  3. From a fishing vessel Fish you take over from a registered fishing vessel goes with the sales note.
King crab

Also outside the quota. Visitors may not take part directly in catching it, though.
