How to read the forecast

  1. Index and rating. Good, fair or slow from wind, rain, moon and, near the coast, the tide; every day starts at 50 out of 100.
  2. Time windows. The bright bars are the best hours for your target fish, worked out from sunrise and sunset.
  3. Reasons. Each day lists what lifts it or holds it back, so you can judge the conditions yourself.

Quick answers

How is the fishing forecast made?

From real weather data: wind and rain from the U.S. National Weather Service, tides from NOAA near the coast, plus moon phase and sunrise and sunset worked out on your device. Each day gets an index and the reasons are shown with it.

What is the best time to fish today?

Usually around dawn and dusk. Pick your target fish: bass and crappie bite best in the first and last light, walleye after sunset into the night, catfish at night. The timeline shows the windows for your location.

Why 3 days without an account?

The first 3 days are free for everyone. With a free account and a confirmed email you see 7 days and can get a message in the evening when tomorrow looks good.

Is the forecast a guarantee?

No. It is a forecast based on rules of thumb, not a hit rate. We compare it with reported catches and adjust the rules.
