Quick answers
What are solunar tables?
A list of the times when fish and game are said to be more active under solunar theory: when the moon is overhead or underfoot (major) and when it rises or sets (minor). The idea dates from the 1920s and is a rule of thumb, not a law.
What is the difference between major and minor times?
Major periods last about two hours around the moon crossing the meridian, overhead and underfoot. Minor periods are shorter, about an hour around moonrise and moonset.
Which days are best by solunar rules?
The days around new and full moon are considered the strongest. When a major or minor period falls at dawn or dusk, that is by the rule the best hour of the day.
Is the moon enough for a good bite?
No. Weather, pressure, water temperature and season usually matter more. That is why our fishing forecast combines the moon with real weather data.
