Fishing knots
Double uni knot
Joins two lines, even of different thickness or type, for example main line and leader.
medium Line: Monofilament, Braid, Fluorocarbon
How to tie it
- Lay the two line ends side by side, overlapping by about 20 cm.
- With the first end, tie a uni knot around the second line, with 5 to 6 turns.
- Pull this first knot tight, but do not slide it yet.
- With the second end, tie a uni knot around the first line in the same way. With braid, use more turns.
- Wet and pull on both main lines until the knots meet. Trim the ends.
Tip: Pull each of the two uni knots tight on its own before you slide them together. That gives a slimmer knot.
Common mistakes
- Too few turns with braided line, so the braid slips through.
- The ends cut too short before the knots have bedded down.
