How to tie it
- Fold the end of the leader back to form a loop of about 5 cm.
- Pass the braid about 20 cm through this loop.
- Wrap the braid 10 to 12 times tightly around both strands of the loop, towards the end of the loop.
- Then pass the braid back through the loop, on the same side it came in.
- Wet, slide the turns towards the end of the loop and pull all four ends tight evenly.
- Trim the ends of the leader and the braid short.
Tip: The Albright is more beginner-friendly than the FG knot. If you later need very slim connections for long casts, you can learn the FG.
Common mistakes
- The turns cross over each other or slip off over the end of the loop.
- Too few turns with thin braid, so it slips out of the loop.
