Palomar knot
A simple, very reliable knot for hooks and swivels that also holds well with slippery braided line.
easy Line: Monofilament, Braid, Fluorocarbon

How to tie it
- Double the line to make a loop of about 15 cm.
- Push the loop through the eye of the hook.
- Tie a loose simple overhand knot with the doubled line, with the hook hanging in it.
- Pull the loop all the way over the hook so it sits behind the knot.
- Wet everything and pull the main line and tag end tight at the same time. Trim the end.
Tip: With large plugs carrying several treble hooks, pulling them through gets awkward, so the uni knot is easier there.
Common mistakes
- The loop is too short, so the hook or lure will not fit through it.
- The doubled line twists inside the knot, so it sits unevenly and holds less well.
